The Taoiseach says there is no evidence that paedophiles who move to Ireland from the UK
are offending in this jurisdiction.
He was reacting to questions in the Dail from Fine Gael Leader Enda Kenny who asked what
was being done to track down child abusers who take up residence here.
It comes as news emerges today that one of Britain’s most wanted child sex offenders has been living and working in Donegal Town for the last two to three years.
Alexander Colin Dalgleish’s image appeared on British television channels last week in reports of the launch of a new “name and shame” website.
Dalgleish was known in south Donegal as “Paul Williams” and in discos in Donegal Town, Killybegs Bundoran as DJ “Small Paul”.
He was sentenced to nine month imprisonment in 2001 for having sex with a 13 year old girl but wasn’t wanted in connection with any unsolved crime. He had however, failed to comply with restrictions on his movements, as stipulated on the Sex Offender’s register, which is an arrestable offence.

Mr. Ahern said the vetting system in this country is working satisfactorily.
Bundoran town councillor, Michael McMahon, doesn’t share the Taoiseach’s views.
